If you are expecting, just had a baby, or are taking care of a young infant it’s important to create a safe sleep environment for your baby. Because babies spend much of their time sleeping, the nursery should be the safest room in the house.
ACHD has a Safe Crib program that offers a baby crib to those in need.
Clients who request a crib must be eligible for one of the following:.
Have an income level that is less than 185% of the poverty level.
Client must be at least 35 weeks gestation or post-partum.
If post-partum, the infant should be less than 3 months old.
Client must be a Missouri resident.
This program is the provider of last resort for clients who have no full size or
portable crib and no other resources for obtaining one.
Each client must:
Participate in two individual safe sleep education sessions provided by Audrain County Health Department following the 2011 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for a Safe Infant Sleeping Environment:
1. The first session is for initial assessment and education before the client receives the crib. 2. The second session is a follow-up home visit to assess the use of the crib and safe sleep practices.
